The independence of India ushered in a new era, Himansu Kumar Niyogi, the founder of the school aimed at moulding the children of indepedent Into worthy citizens of the motherland. His long and intimate association with Sri Aurobindo and the Mother awakened his dream and inspired his endeavour.
The New Horizon High School was established in the year 1961. Dr. Bidhab Chabdra Roy was the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Himansu Kumar Niyogi ardently desired that the foundation of the school should be ceremonially laid by the Honourable Chief Minister. Dr. Roy suffested the name of the famous educationist Humayun Kabir as the as the most suitable for such a noble task. On 21st February 1961, the birthday of Mother, and with her blessings, the foundation stone of the New Horizon was laid by Humayun Kabir and the journey began.
